B-Stock is so excited to welcome Alyssa Shum to the Product Design team this summer! As a summer teammate, we know she will be an incredible asset to the company. Alyssa studied Design at the University of California, Davis. Learn a bit more about Alyssa and see her answers to some questions below.

Q: What are you most excited to learn at B-Stock?

I’m most excited to learn about B-Stock’s attention to sustainability by extending the lifecycle of products and reducing waste. I’d be excited to learn from a team that’s committed to both innovation and environmental impact.

Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? (Or still want to be!)

When I was a kid, I wanted to be an animator at Pixar. I was fascinated by the way stories, technology, and emotion could come together to create something powerful and memorable. That dream sparked a deep interest in how things work behind the scenes—how creative ideas are brought to life with data, tools, and collaboration. Inside Out 2 is my favorite Pixar movie due to its message.

Q: What is one piece of advice you’ve been given that has stuck?

One piece of advice that has always stuck with me is: “Always say yes, and figure it out on the way.” It’s taught me to stay open to opportunities, even when they feel a little outside my comfort zone. Whether it’s learning a new skill, jumping into an unfamiliar project, or working with a different team, I’ve found that saying yes often leads to the biggest growth moments. It pushes me to be resourceful, ask good questions, and learn fast.

Q: Where can people find you after work or school?

I’m often playing pickleball, making clay charms for my Etsy shop, or playing volleyball. Recently I’ve been teaching myself how to play the piano.

Q: What is a hidden talent of yours?

I can draw a unicorn in 15 seconds.

Q: What plays in the background while you work (music genre, podcast, news)?

I listen to a lot of RnB or indie music, My favorite two artists right now are Laufey and Arianna Grande.

Q: Where would you go with unlimited PTO?

I’d go to Japan to restock on stationery.

Q: What do you do when you’re stuck creatively? How do you get the creative juices flowing?

I go on a walk or look at Pinterest.

Q: What’s something you’ve accomplished that you’re proud of?

I’m really proud of my Etsy shop. I’ve been building it for over a year now and some of my charms have even been sent to other continents!

Q: What is one thing you hope to contribute to B-Stock?

I would like to bring my artistic and marketing skills to B-Stock.

If you’re interested in B-Stock’s internship program, please contact [email protected] or reach out on LinkedIn!
