On B-Stock, there are several ways inventory may be shipped. Shipping methods will vary depending on which storefront you bought inventory from. In this post, we will introduce you to the different shipping terms and options you have when it comes to receiving inventory. We cover:

  • Standard Shipping
  • Buyer Arranged Shipping
  • Flat Rate Shipping
  • Free Shipping
  • Accessorial Fees
  • Consolidated Shipping

Each seller has its own shipping practices and policies, so reading individual listing details carefully is important. B-Stock does not house or handle any of the merchandise, and we do not manage or organize shipping. However, we aim to make it as easy and streamlined as possible for our buyers.

Standard Shipping*

This is the most frequently used shipping method on the B-Stock platform. Depending on variables such as zip code, weight, density, number of pallets, how many pallet spaces will be used during transport, and a few other factors, shipping cost will vary. Here’s an example of how it would look on your screen:

Standard Shipping Example

*Formerly known as Binding Shipping

Pro Tip: Click Edit in the top right, and toggle between different ship-to addresses in your Address Book (see example below). The system will update and show you different shipping prices in real-time, helping you pick the cheapest delivery location.

Buyer Arranges Shipping

With Buyer Arranged Shipping, you are responsible for contracting a carrier and shipping the product from the seller’s facility to yours. This shipping method is most commonly used on mobile storefronts.

Buyer Arranged Shipping Example

If you do not already have a carrier, we encourage you to explore some of our professional shipping partners to handle and ship inventory directly from retailers. We often recommend Freightquote, a shipping logistics facilitator that will help you find the best carrier for your needs. However, you are not required to go through them and can use whatever professional carrier you prefer. In some cases, if you have a truck that’s commercial dock height, retailers will allow you to pick up the inventory yourself.

Free Shipping

Just like it sounds! Free Shipping can be found on select listings across the platform. It’s more common on the B-Stock Supply storefront, but you may find other sellers sprinkling in a few opportunities for Free Shipping.

Free Shipping

Note: You will still see the B-Stock Fee listed under Shipping & Other Charges.

Flat Rate Shipping*

You pay one flat rate regardless of where you are located geographically. This option usually only applies to smaller lots that don’t require a pallet for shipping. The flat rate shipping cost will be included in the order total.

*Formerly known as Fixed Cost Shipping

Things to Know Before You Ship

Before paying, please ensure the correct address is selected in your account. There are a few additional things to note related to shipping methods:

Accessorial Fees

This is defined as services performed above what is considered standard (e.g., liftgates, inside delivery, etc). If you do not have proper equipment to receive the shipment, accessorial fees may be charged. These are usually no higher than $50 USD across carriers.

Examples:

  • If a liftgate is needed
  • If you are shipping to a residential address
  • If a loading dock is needed

Notes on Lot Sizes:

  • FTL shipments require access to a receiving dock.
  • LTL shipments require the use of a liftgate and pallet jack.
  • Lift gates may not be used for floor loaded shipments.

Please refer to B-Stock Lot Sizes for more information.

Consolidated Shipping

Consolidated shipping combines multiple LTL shipments into one full truckload shipment. This is a good way to save time on shipments and reduce your costs.

To take advantage of consolidated shipments:

  • Eligible lots must be from the same seller and a single warehouse location.
  • You must pay for each order in full first (you will be reimbursed the difference in B-Stock Credit to apply to future purchases).
  • You must meet the number of pallet spaces necessary within a certain number of business days to take advantage of a single truckload delivery.

Note: Not all sellers/ facilities will allow you to combine shipments.

Start Exploring Listings

Ready to start searching for inventory by your desired shipping method? We have hundreds of listings available every day across dozens of categories and lot sizes. As always, if you have any shipping questions, feel free to contact us directly!

Check the Shipment Type in the Listing Details page. You can also filter on the All Listings Page (ALP) by your preferred Shipment Type.

A pallet is a flat transport structure. It is the structural foundation of a unit load, which allows for handling and storage efficiencies. Pallet spaces refer to how much space a pallet takes up in the bed of a truck.

The B-Stock Fee helps cover the costs of running the marketplace and is calculated based on transaction size. This amount will be added to the final winning bid/total. Similar to a “buyer’s premium” on other marketplaces/ auction sites.
